Ward 3 Election Forum

As Canadians we are envied around the world for our beautiful geography, our diverse culture and our freedom to vote in a democratic electoral system. Unfortunately, in many countries the electoral process is flawed and the winner decided long before a ballot is marked. But, here in the City of Kawartha Lakes we have the opportunity to be informed and freely participate in the upcoming municipal election.

Municipal elections are quieter versions of the larger provincial and federal elections but they are no less important. In fact, they may have a bigger impact on our daily lives. The local council makes decisions on matters such as; waste removal, property taxes, infrastructure, development, and so much more. The mayor and councillors who make these decisions are people who live in our community, shop at our retailers, and volunteer alongside us.

In preparation for the election, Fenelon Forward and The Fenelon Falls & District Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Ward 3 Election Forum on Wednesday, September 12th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre, 57 Veterans Way. The evening will include presentation from all mayoral and councillor candidates and Q & A from the audience moderated by Pamela Vanmeer from Kawartha 411. To submit your questions in advance please email hello@explorefenelonfalls.com with subject line Ward 3.

Did you know the electoral process is now online or by telephone? Find out what this means for you and confirm you’re on the voters list at 2018 Municipal Election.
