A Literary Contest for Seniors

Submitted by Arlene Colman, Seniors Chairman

The Fenelon Falls Legion has organized a literary contest for the seniors in our community; limited to permanent residents living in postal codes K0M 1N0, K0M 1G0, and K0M 1C0. We know there is a lot of talent out there and we offer you an opportunity to showcase your skills and share your experiences, imagination and knowledge.

Our seniors 65+ have a lot of experience under the belt; have amassed considerable knowledge thus far in their journey through life and all have stories to tell.

The contest covers 3 age groups 65-75, 76-89 and 90+ and four categories Poems, Short stories, Essays and Memoir (includes biographies, auto-biographies and travel writing). A little something for everyone. You may enter once in each category or choose one category of interest.

Registration forms and the rules of the contest will be available at the Legion 23 Veterans Way starting March 1st at noon. So mark your calendar to pick up your entry form. All entries must be received by the Legion by 6:00 p.m., May 24, 2019.

Awards will be given to first, second and third place winners in June at a date yet to be determined, but about mid June. The award is nice, the Community recognition rewarding, but the bragging rights are awesome!!

Flex your creative muscles, use your imagination, tickle our funny bone and share your talent.
