The Kawartha Lakes Country Living Show Returns

With the return of the annual Kawartha Lakes Country Living Show this weekend, I sat down with the event organizer, Tim Wisener, for the lowdown on what show-goers can expect this year.

Town Crier: We are so excited for the show this weekend! Who should attend the Country Living Show?

Tim Wisener: Literally everyone! We have boats, art, furnaces, girl guide cookies, fashion, builders, beer, real estate, pancakes, fishing bait, Tupperware, all manner of fuels, socks, designers, cheese, windows, golf, essential oils, decks and docks of all kinds, appliances, wine, a wedding officiant if you are in the mood, and that’s just to name a few.

TC: What’s new at the show for this year?

TW: Some of our new vendors this year include experts in fishing tackle, winemaking, cheese, housekeeping, landscapers, a ceremony officiant, and essential oils.

TC: What are some must-see vendors or exhibits?

TW: How you are going to heat next winter? be it natural gas, propane, heat pump or any of the other possibilities, now is the time to decide. Speak to the suppliers and get the lowdown on getting set up, and if none of those work for you then best go see the generator folks just in case. Artist Donna Bisschop will be unveiling her mural which will soon find its new home at the curling club.

TC: Will there be any refreshment or food options available for people who attend the show?

TW: Absolutely, On The Locks (while they are under construction at their home base) will have an onsite restaurant, so come with friends, come for the show and stay for lunch.

TC: What’s your personal favourite part of the Country Living Show?

TW: Is it inappropriate if I say Sunday at 4? I enjoy the variety, I like to see the camaraderie among the vendors and the community on display, the whole town and so many of the merchants are out to support each other and the Chamber of Commerce. It is looking like a bit of a soggy and cool weekend so will be a great one to come on in to the show.

Thanks Tim! Be sure to catch this year’s KLCLS running this weekend at the Community Centre.
