All About the New Fenelon Marketplace

1. How long have you owned your business?
I've owned Fenelon Marketplace for 2 years after taking over from another successful owner of the business.
2. What was the inspiration to start or purchase your business?
I've always enjoyed searching and finding something unique and interesting. After retiring it became a fun hobby to go to yard sales, thrift stores and searching online sites. I started selling items as a vendor in various Marketplaces. During COVID the opportunity came up for me to take over from another owner of Fenelon Marketplace.
3. What is your favourite part of being a small business owner?
I really enjoy meeting the variety of visitors that pass through Fenelon Falls. Interesting to hear where they have traveled from and how Fenelon Falls became a place to stop, shop and visit. We also get a wide range of ages coming through the store, so I'm always intrigued to see the types of items they are attracted to.
4. What do you wish people knew about your business?
Every item in the store has been chosen knowing there is someone that will come through the store and say 'oh I used to have that or my grandparents had one of these, or this reminds me of, or this is exactly what I'm looking for'. We have a wide range of items to appeal to all different types of tastes - new, vintage, modern. We have wall decor, jewellery, antiques, sports and celebrity memorabilia, collectibles, art, music, housewares, clothing, unique decorative items and so much more.
5. Who is your greatest supporter?
We have a lot of regulars that live locally and know we are constantly getting new inventory, and moving things around the store. They enjoy the vibe, music and we have made the store pet friendly!
6. What are you most proud of about your business?
Seeing the smiles and friendly people that come through the store saying 'what a great store, and oh I could spend hours in here'
