Our Perfect Summer Day blog was such a hit, that we knew we had to make another inspired by all of the wonderful Fall activities and events available in Fenelon Falls. It was hard to narrow it down to only 10 things, but we did our best! Feel free to add any of your favourites we missed in the comments below.
Start your day with breakfast at On The locks
Fall is all about being cozy, and we think there’s nothing cozier than sharing a breakfast with loved ones. On The Locks, located at 12 Water Street, offers a bunch of great options from The Big Locks Breaky to breakfast poutine, omelettes, benny’s, breakfast sandwiches, and even french toast. Yum!
admire the newly restored fenelon theatre marquee
The new pride of Fenelon Falls is the recently restored Fenelon Theatre Marquee. After a fulfilling breakfast, there’s no better time to take a nice stroll along the water to appreciate the sights, the beauty of the changing leaves, and of course, the stunning presence of the marquee.
Go for a hike on the victoria county rail trail
Fenelon Falls is blessed to have the Victoria County Rail Trail pass right through town. Stretching all the way from Lindsay to Kinmount (approximately 55 km) this trail is stunning and is used for hiking, horseback riding, and cycling during the Fall.
stop by that place on cameron for a fulfilling lunch
"Went on recommendation from a family member. Did not disappoint! Had the 'That Place Burger'! The best burger I've had in a long time, or ...maybe ever! And real fries! Great service and loved all the signs on the walls. Will definitely go back next time we're in [Ontario]!"
- Cathy DeHoop
After an active morning, it’s important to fuel up with a good lunch. While there are many options in town to experience, this time around we are recommending That Place on Cameron which feature a big menu of options enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
check out the fenelon falls art scene
In addition to fantastic local galleries, including Colborne Street Gallery by Tim + Chris and the Station Gallery, for a limited time, you can embark on the Victoria County Studio Tour to meet local artists including Hanny Rentel, Donna Bisschop, Janet Tysiak, Janice Addison, Mary Sullivan, and Bruno Cantieni. The tour runs from September 29th to 30th and again on October 6th and 7th.
Go shopping at one of many unique downtown stores
We know, we know. We featured this as part of our perfect summer day blog too. But now that Fall is here all of the amazing stores we’re blessed with in downtown Fenelon Falls are carrying new clothing, accessories, and all sorts of other goodies.
Check out the Harvest Happenings event on October 6th if you can! It’s a family friendly event featuring many local stores and includes the Grand Opening of the Tinkertoy Playspace at Maryboro Lodge: The Fenelon Museum. There are tons of other festive activities like cider pressing, a scavenger hunt, crafts, wagon rides, and more.
relax with a tea and buttertart at the book lady
Recently renovated, The Book Lady is a fantastic stop to add to your list. Nothing says Fall more than enjoying a cozy drink and treat while you find a new (or previously loved) book to enjoy. There’s a book for everyone at The Book Lady!
take a drive in the countryside
One of the best things to do during the peak of Fall is to enjoy a drive in the countryside. You don’t necessarily need to have a destination in mind, just hop in the car, find some backroads, and enjoy the sights around you. If you’re a local to Fenelon Falls, share your recommendations in the comments below.
join a workshop at the barn and bunkie
New to The Barn and Bunkie are workshops with local artisans. Taking place in the evening, usually around 7 pm, you (and a friend) can sign up for fun and fall-themed classes such as candle making with the Kawartha Candle Company.
How cool is that?
