A Day in Fenelon Falls

Start the day with a peaceful walk or bike ride along the scenic Victoria Rail Trail. Afterwards, head back into town for breakfast by grabbing a bacon sandwich at The Little Pie Shack. Do not forget stop by the Fenelon Museum and check out their daily community based programming and learn about the history of Fenelon Falls. Just beside the museum is the splash pad and Garnet Graham Beach Park, a great spot for young and old alike to visit.

After cooling off go into town for lunch at one of Fenelon’s amazing lunch places, such as the famous Slices N’ Scoops. Once you finish your meal go down and take a look at the gorgeous falls and check out local artists at Colborne Street Gallery or Fenelon Station Gallery. Having worked up a small appetite while viewing beautiful art, natural and man-made pieces, check out the Farmers Market and grab yourself a nice snack from one of the many vendors.

Following a quick bite to eat, head over from the market to our picturesque downtown where you’ll find unique, local and Canadian made goods at many of  our shops. A Tourism Ambassador recommendation is Grr8 Finds on Colborne Street. For the second last stop, why not head down to Murphy’s Lockside Pub & Patio for some Irish inspired pub food for dinner. Then take a final quick stop across the street to take a picture with the beloved Fenelon Theatre marquee.

Meet the Tourism Ambassadors

This summer, five local students took on the task of spreading their love of the town to visitors. These are the Tourism Ambassadors. In the waning weeks of summer the Tourism Ambassadors would like to share a little bit about themselves and their summer in Fenelon Falls.

For the Tourism Ambassadors a typical day starts at nine o’clock when they don gloves and make their way around town cleaning up the streets. Then in pairs, they spread out greeting visitors from around the world, boaters moored along the channel, and creating social media content promoting local events and business. On Wednesdays, you can find the TA’s helping the Horticulture Society take care of the many beautiful gardens around Fenelon. In essence, they aim to foster a positive and welcoming environment in Fenelon Falls and strive to make people’s stay in town one to remember.

We asked the Tourism Ambassadors some questions about their experience working and what they have learned over the summer.

Thank You Tourism Ambassadors!

This week our intrepid Tourism Ambassadors are wrapping up their tenure in town.

You’ve probably seen them around in their bright blue shirts giving people directions, promoting local businesses, spreading the word about local attractions and events, and helping the Horticultural Society with public garden maintenance. A few times I even saw them collecting litter in Garnet Graham Park!

The Tourism Ambassadors are leaving us with a few more goodies - stay tuned for the “TA Takeover” of the Town Crier newsletter next week, and keep playing along with the Puzzlers at the end of the Town Crier.

But for now, we’d like to say a special Thank You to the Tourism Ambassadors for their efforts around Fenelon Falls this summer. If you see one of them in their bright blue shirts tomorrow, feel free to say thanks and best wishes!

Welcome to Fenelon Falls!

Fenelon Falls is a destination for day trippers, cottagers and local tourists alike and sometimes they need a little help making the most of their visit. The goal of the summer Tourism Ambassador program is to welcome, inform, direct and have fun with visitors so their time here is memorable and those great memories that will bring them back time and again.

The Tourism Ambassador program launched in the summer of 2018 with only two Ambassadors. Last summer was a success and showed that there was opportunity to expand and grow the concept so this summer there are 5 Tourism Ambassadors! The TA’s are local students who bring their own experience, enthusiasm, tech smarts and hometown knowledge to the job. You will see them all around downtown Fenelon Falls, at the museum, the beach park, and the locks in their bright blue uniforms. They are also helping the Horticulture Society volunteers take care of the many beautiful gardens in the village.

Whether you have family coming to visit, you’re a long time cottager, or a local; the Tourism Ambassadors can help you find restaurants, accommodations, attractions and event information. They can also be convinced to give clues to help you solve our summer Mystery Adventure - The Hunt for the Jewel of the Kawarthas. Their home base is the Tourist Info Centre on Oak Street in Fenelon Falls. The Chamber of Commerce is excited to promote Fenelon Falls and area with the help of our Tourism Ambassadors. Please say hello when you see them around town.
