Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. releases East Coast IPA and Kawartha Sparkling Ale

(Fenelon Falls, Ontario - July 16, 2019) Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. releases East Coast IPA and Kawartha Sparkling Ale at the 2019 Fenelon Fair Beer Garden.

Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. announced the release of two new beers: East Coast IPA and Kawartha Sparkling Ale. The inaugural release will be at the Beer Garden at the Fenelon Fair, July 19 to 21, 2019.

These are two new additions to their established flagships, Fenelon’s Vienna Lager and Red Ale, currently found in select licensees, Grocery Stores, and LCBO locations in Ontario. General Manager, Mathew Renda said: “We’re excited about the release of these new beers as they compliment our existing lineup nicely. As we move closer to brewery completion, and have our doors open to the public, we aim to build momentum with addition of new beer types and styles to create a truly exciting tap room representative of our brewing philosophy. This will give our community, and our supporters, another reason to visit Fenelon’s brewery.”

Fenelon East Coast IPA is 5.0% ABV, 22 IBUs, with bursts of zest and tropical fruit flavours, and a clean, smooth finish. Head brewer Russell Gibson, said this recipe was “aimed at creating a truly unique flavour profile, without adding an overabundance of hops, to make this another signature brand in our product portfolio”. “Our brewing vision is to make beer styles very clean and approachable, catering to the laid back style found in the Kawarthas, but very distinct as well” he added.

Kawartha Sparkling Ale has a sharp, bubbly bite and crisp finish. It’s a Canadian twist on an Australian classic. “The beer style is very approachable, the lighter body is carbonated to a higher degree than most other beers, which makes the perfect drink for the dock on a hot day,” said Gibson.

Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. beer is available at the Beer Garden, for a limited time, at the Fenelon Fair, July 19th to 21st:

Beer Garden Hours

July 19th: 4pm to 10pm

July 20th: 11am to 10pm

July 21st: 11am to 4pm

Beat The Heat and Prostate Cancer at the 2019 Telus Watercraft Ride for Dad

Submitted by Michael Robson

Summer is in full swing and it has been hot here in Fenelon Falls. The sun and humidity have been perfect weather for water fun and this weekend, there is an event that helps you cool off and contribute to a good cause.

This Saturday, the Fenelon Falls Marina will be hosting the 2019 Telus Watercraft Ride for Dad. The event will start at 1 pm at Fenelon Falls Marina and will take participants on a scavenger hunt on Cameron and Sturgeon Lakes. All pleasure craft are welcome and encouraged to join in the hunt. Upon completing the hunt, families may return to the Marina by 4 pm for a chance to win great prizes and enjoy dinner together at 5 pm.

Ride for Dad is a national mission to help end prostate cancer by supporting research and raising awareness. All across Canada, people are fundraising and participating in rides on ATVs, Motorcycles, Snowmobiles, and Watercraft. The proceeds of each ride are donated to the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation.

One in seven men in Canada will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Cancer does not just affect those individuals but also the people they love and those around them. The Watercraft Ride for Sight provides a way to help fight for a cure for prostate cancer to help those who are diagnosed and their friends and families while enjoying time together and having fun on the water.

Come on out on Saturday to cool off and support a great cause. To pre-register, visit RideForDad.ca or email heather.ffmarina@yahoo.ca.

KLCLS a Success

Last weekend marked the annual Kawartha Lakes Country Living Show, and as usual the show delivered on its mission to be an informative and iconic stop for home and cottage owners in the Kawartha Lakes area gearing up for the spring and summer season ahead.

With over 100 vendors and 3081 people attending, the show was a huge success for our community. It couldn’t have been done without the hard work of a team of volunteers who help put it all together and keep the show running throughout the weekend, despite the poor weather.

Many thanks to everyone who made the KLCLS possible, and thanks to all who attended. See you next year!

Shared Workspace Anyone?

Submitted by Alan Engelstad

Are you operating a home business, freelancing or starting a new business or organization? Perhaps you travel or have a cottage in the area and you’d like a place to catch up on things back at the office. Shared workspaces (co-working) fill a need for freelancers and home businesses and startups to access inexpensive public space in which to do business, meet clients, find complementary talent, learn new strategies and collaborate on projects together. Participants share the operating costs and benefit from things they might not have at home: high-speed wifi, enterprise-level photocopying, a business address and a place to hold a meeting, workshop or create a podcast.

If you’ve not encountered these, here are some examples to whet your appetite and get you thinking about what might work best for you:

The Fenelon Falls Downtown Revitalization team is looking into the feasibility of a shared office hub of some sort to help our home businesses and freelancers and startups thrive and to create a welcoming place for such businesses or organizations that wish to relocate here.

Interested? Please come to Sweet Bottoms Coffee (19 Colborne St. Fenelon Falls) this Sunday afternoon, 2 p.m. (7 April) or next Sunday afternoon (14 April) at the same time. Let’s discuss what we’d want and need from a shared work environment in town.

Can’t make either time? Please let us know your interest and requirements for a shared work space by sending an email to: fenelonthrives@gmail.com
