2024 Budget readies for growth while maintaining affordability and sustainability

On October 17 and 31, 2023, Kawartha Lakes held Special Council Meetings to provide preliminary information on the proposed 2024 Budget. During these meetings, senior staff provided departmental overviews with highlights of 2023 accomplishments and priorities for 2024. Both meetings can be viewed on the City’s YouTube channel and presentations are available for download on our Budget and Finance webpage.

Waste Management fall diversion program reminders

Kawartha Lakes is excited to share some of the great diversion programs available to residents this fall through the Waste Management division, like curbside textile recycling, winter landfill hours and seasonal road collection, fall curbside leaf and yard waste collection, woodchip (mulch) and compost giveaway, paint reuse program, mattress recycling program, bulky plastic recycling program.

You No Longer Need To Get Called Down To The Principal’s Office To See Some Exceptional Canadian Art

In 2020, Mark Cossarin the Principal of Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI), a secondary school in Lindsay, Ontario, knew that the school had some significant pieces of Canadian artwork on the walls of the school, and contacted Kawartha Art Gallery in Lindsay, Ontario, to discuss the possibility of a long-term loan of the artwork to the Gallery.

Downtown Update: Second Crossing?

The municipality of Kawartha Lakes, in partnership with the project’s consultant, Dillon Consulting, will be hosting an additional virtual public meeting for the Fenelon Falls Second Crossing project on May 29, 2021. The purpose of this meeting is to inform seasonal and full time residents, within the areas of potential impact, of the study findings and recommendations. Areas of potential impact include the Town of Fenelon Falls, the community of Baddow along Concession Road 3 and along the Burnt River near Concession Road 3.
